It is centred and the bounds are circular (yes there are are boundaries to prevent you from setting the icon half the screen). windowSplashScreenAnimatedIcon - This is where your splash screen icon resides.windowSplashScreenBackground - This is the background colour of the entire splash screen.Grab a cup of coffee and follow along, by the end you’ll have a splash screen that follows device theme and animates. The API supports Animated Icons via AnimatedVectorDrawable or AnimationDrawable plus backwards compatibility with older API levels. Now you need to add support for Android 12 splash screen so it has a more consistent look and less intrusive to your users. More inconsistency in design and more intrusive to your users. Now you have two splash screens that likely look completely different. Sounds great until you realise that if you were using an Activity or Fragment to show a splash screen then you would have the default Android 12 splash screen show up first then your custom splash screen follows. By default all apps on Android 12 will show a splash screen with the app icon at the centre. Here comes API level 31Īndroid 12 came along and a new Splash Screen API was added. This means even when the content activity was already created before it would still show a splash screen which can be annoying to users. This gives you all the flexibility you’d ever need but it would still display the splash screen even when the app hot starts. The natural solution to this was using an Activity or Fragment to display your animated screen then navigating away after it’s done. But this lacks the flexibility of having animated splash screen and it was honestly kind of hard to make sure your your drawable scales properly throughout all API levels. Using the android:windowBackground attribute inside your theme is the basic form of a splash screen in Android where you would position an icon on the window background of your app and after the application loads it is covered by content. In Intune there is not a easy way of setting background picture for different screen resolutions, this one will also choose a fit.Įnd user experience for lock screen picture. For years Android Devs have always resorted to using a windowBackground or Activity or Fragment for their splash screen. Remember like for any other policy or device restriction the end user cannot change the behavior that the IT admin has setup on the end user device – but for some companies it is very important to have the company branding on every thing including desktop background and lock screen.Įnd user experience for background picture. Enter the URL in “Desktop background picture URL”.Enter the URL in “Locked screen picture URL”.Then there is the two setting – one for Lockscreen picture and one for desktop bagground picture – you can easy create both setting in the same profile – in this example I have done it. Start the Microsoft 365 Device Management portal Now you are ready to create your Intune profile: Copy the URL with the access token embedded.Change when the access token expiry – remember when it expires your end users will not have access to the picture any more and the Intune policy will have no effect.Click Open in Explorer – you need the Azure Storage Explorer installed. Click create if all the information is correct.Enter you Storage account name : osdintune.Create a resource group if you not have any or just use a existent one.Once you are finish search for storage account and click add How to upload the picture to Azure Blob Storage:įirst of all if you already have a Azure Storage account you can skip this section if not then start the Azure portal search for free service find the Azure Blob Storage and click createĬlick Start free – and follow the guide to sign up Note : Supported in Windows 10 Enterprise and Education SKUs But if you don’t have a Azure subscription then just use the free Azure service with 5GB of Azure Blob Storage – just be sure that you are in control of the service, not like OneDrive where a SharePoint administrator or a security administrator can change the security settings on OneDrive that may effect your policy. The reason for this is, if for some reason the device is not able to authenticate then my setting will not apply, I love to use Azure file storage for this one – do to that is it both secure and we can embed the authentication token in the link that we deploy to the end user device. Personal I never use OneDrive or any other service that requires a login token when deploying pictures or other settings down to a windows 10 client with Intune. I got a question week about setting lock screen picture not working when the picture is in OneDrive.
